Become an Educator short courses are designed for people who supervise or support apprentices, trainees or VET students and want to build confidence in teaching others.
They offer an introduction to VET teaching, helping you understand the role before committing to a longer qualification. The course focuses on practical, job-ready skills that can be applied immediately in your workplace.
What you’ll gain

- Skills to translate your industry experience into effective training
- Insight into pathways for further study, including the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
You’ll also have the option to complete an assessment to gain a nationally recognised skill set.
Courses are expected to commence from July.
Courses are ideal for people who are curious about VET teaching and want to “try before they commit”, particularly those who:
- Supervise or support apprentices, trainees or VET students (including school students) on placement
- Want to build confidence in training others
- Have no prior teaching experience or qualifications.
To be eligible, you must live and work in South Australia.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
- Apply practical strategies to support workplace learning
- Plan and deliver simple training or instruction in your work context
- Adapt your communication to suit different learners and learning styles
- Translate workplace skills and knowledge into effective training approaches
- Reflect on your capability and readiness to pursue further study in VET teaching.
